Surveyors cross. The instriument was mounted on some kind of tripod and was used for plotting/positioning right angled lines on a plot of land. Also corners of 45 or 135 degrees were possible. Both body and hadgrip are made of brass. Both top and bottom are painted grey.

When not in use, the handgrip can be screwed into the body to fit in the box. The threaded hole in the body can also be used to mount the instrument on a tripod.

There are no markings or inscriptions on the tools concerning maker (or could be under the paint?).
