Adjustable Bevel (0623)

Index: 0623

Year: Ca 1800 ?

Maker: ?

Dimensions: 15 x 2.5 x 0.5 cm

Info

Adjustable Bevel in brass (outside) and steel (inside leg). On the first look, quite simple tool, but this one has some other possibilities (see drawing): it can be used as a guide for a plummet and, with a protractor, as a clinometer or waterlevel.

Could be coincidence, but the length of the tool when folded open is exactly 10 pouces de Paris (270,7 mm).

The only inscription on the tool is "CDR". Would guess this is rather the owner who etched it in the brass rather then the maker.
