Total length is 10m with every meter indicated by a brass label. The other side of the steel tape has the reverse length indication (1-9, 2-8, ...). A hole is punched in the steel tape every 10cm and a brass rivet is put every 20 cm.
The brass handles bear the label "F.F. Decametre". The brass connection plate between handle and steel tape has the letters "F.F." above the rivets.
