Mechanical calculator patented by E. Felt in 1887. Mostly used fior additions, but could also be used for subtractions, multiplication or division (although not clear to me how the latter could be done).

Earlier models would have a wooden enclosure. This object has a red copper enclosure (or assume red copper plated).

On this type, there are 12 columns of 9 keys.
