The wooden box is veneered and on the lid is a brass plate which is not engraved.

The inner lid can contains small items. The lid flap is in purple fabric which shows its

age and is gold stamped with the logo and the words "Compass Superieurs BREtes". Guess

the last word (barely readable) stands for "Brevetés".

The pairs of compasses are in a wooden tray with purple velvet.

Instruments themselves are mainly of brass with steel tips. Drawing tools ans small compass

have a bone or ivory handle.
