Info

Magdeburg Hemispheres were used for demonstration purposes to show the effect/strenght of atmospheric pressure. For that purpose, the rims and sealing ring were greased, the hemispheres put together and, via the valve, connected with a vacuum pump to extract the air. The atmospheric pressure was enough to keep the hemispheres together and could not be separated.
